Term 1


We were doing the KWL (know what learn) about the Olympics. First we had to share what we already know about the Olympics. Second we had to share what we want to learn about the Olympics. We didn't do the learned part of the KWL chart because we did not learn anything about the Olympics yet.

Central Idea: Societies can create and organize events that contribute to the community.




 Students the researched about the Olympics which was held in Brazil. They researched the populations, culture, events and geography from Indonesia and Brazil.
They made posters about 5 facts of Brazil and sports.

Reading






We were reading a book in class everyday. We choose the book from the library the we read in class also at home. The teacher will check how many pages I read.



Swimming
Grade 3 to 5 were learning how to dive, some of us were standing up and others were squatting down. They also learn back stroke, breast stroke, dolphin kick and free style. We have been taught to be tough.

 Maths

Learning measurements. Students tried to measure their peers not using ruler or tape measure but we encourage them to use what they found in the classroom. They measured, discussed and reported.

UoI Unit 2 
Disciplinary theme: : Where we are in Place and Time
Central Idea: An understanding of our home and host country helps develop our global perspective.

 


We all together had to find materials that we use for our stone age tools. I made an axe for cutting. People long ago  after the stone age they didn't use the tools like we have now but they had to create for themselves to support their life.

Term 2
With Pak Yusuf we did an experiment. It was very interested because we can see the process of it and we were also take note in our book.

Science
 
Students observed how heat transfer to several materials.
We had to fill two glasses with the same amount  of water and we have to cover each glass with a piece of paper.
One is covered with black paper and the other is covered with white paper. After lunch we checked on our glasses to see if anything changed. The water in the glass with black paper is hotter than the water in the glass with white paper. Gaby

We had to have a glass full of hot water, cold water and one with room temperature water. We put some food color in each glass. Then we tried it and when we tried it the food color spread faster in the hot water. Alaka


Bahasa Indonesia

We made a traditional house made out of pop cycle sticks. I made a house from Aceh in Sumatra. We made traditional houses because we were learning about houses from different place in Indonesia and it is related to our unit of learning which is Where we are in Place and Time. Amanda

Maths.
In math we were doing measuring how long was each person jump. Each person jumped and has different lengths. We use centimeter. We used measuring tape and ruler to measure how long.


The second photo was when we were weighing the plastic fruit using the scale so we wanted to know how heavy it is. We learned kilograms, grams and pounds. It was like in the supermarket. Yuki

















 This is my family tree poster I made. I had to find the history of my great great parents by asking my mom.
I put photos of it. Alif


 Amanda was showing the history box which has favorite old toys in it.
Also we made posters of home country with full of information like the people, culture, the food and geography. We had to share our poster in class. Maxi


This is the Time Line books. It is about the story of my life. I had to ask my mom about my family. Tama



I read her time line book in class. It has a story about when she was little starting year 0 until now.

Unit 3. How the world works.
Central idea: Human's curiosity leads to the understanding that Earth is part of an immense system called The Universe. 

We have been learning about Solar Systems. We have to choose one of the planet and researched about it. Then we went to The Planetarium in Jakarta. Yuki

So much information we got. We watched the movie about the solar systems, the constellations, stars and planets. The place was cool inside. The place called The Planetarium. Yoni




Everybody had to share their poster and explained about the planet. We got the information from books and the internet. We worked together in team. It is good working together because we could help each other. Paul

Unit 4. Sharing the Planet
Central Idea: Living things depend on each other and the environment for their survival.

 

These are the Persuasive writing about endangered animals.



I am working on Pandas for my endangered animal project. Pandas are not really endangered anymore because the number of pandas are increasing. I chose to do the giant panda from China. Giant pandas live on high mountains that are full of bamboos so that they could eat the panda to avoid the cold. Gaby

Assembly

This week grade 3 to 5 were hosting the Assembly.
We had some performance from other classes and some cooperative games.

Before we started Mr. Scott gave us the instructions what we had to do. We listened carefully so we don't make mistakes. (Yejin)



 

We will have Indonesian night next week. My class will perform the dance called Blek dit dot. On these pictures, we made Blek dit dot puppets out of cardboard, plastic cups, tissue and hot glue.
Our puppet can move their head and other body part. They look good! We shared our puppet to the audience. (Dyllan)

 
 Jordi and Alaka were performing a puppet play and the puppet were talking to one another. The arms and legs can move.  (Robin)

 Design and technology


We were investigating the bower bird that lives in Australia and also Papua New Guinea  It is a very interesting bird. The male has a good voice and good dance too. The male spends 2 years to make the bower on the ground (nest). He collects colourful material to decorate so as to attract the female.This picture is showing when we made the bower out of straw, cardboard, sticks and glue.  We used colour paper, paints, newspaper and glue. My bower looks tall and we made a fence and it has gate also. I am happy with my bower bird house. Yejin


Our class made animals inspired by artist, Robin Wood's. My group made a monkey. There was a challenge for each animal and my monkey had to hang on the wire and it works. Gaby













IB Evaluator
When I was being ''interrogated'' from Ms. Halani I was using all my best knowledge to impress her  persuasively/diplomatically. I got  some feedback from her side.



 Caring
Gaby was being caring to Yejin because she doesn't understand her English homework.I like to help my friends if they need help in class.   Tama
